Castilleja fissifolia  N. Holmgren;  Scrophulariaceae u Orobanchaceae

Hierbas que miden hasta 30 cm de alto, el follaje está a menudo teñido de morado. Las hojas son alternas, miden hasta 2 cm de largo, están divididas en segmentos. La inflorescencia se presenta en forma de racimos de hasta 10 cm de largo, tiene hojas con apariencia de pétalos (brácteas) de color rojo brillante que sostienen a cada flor. Las flores son tubulares, algo recurvadas, miden hasta 20 mm de largo, de color verde claro, con pelos diminutos.

Distribución: Es endémica del S Ecuador. En el PNC se encuentra en varios ambientes. Las partes rojas más vistosas de la planta son las brácteas y no las flores.

Herbs up to 30 cm long; the foliage is often tinged with purple. The leaves are alternate, up to 2 cm long, divided in segments. The inflorescences are racemes up to 10 cm long; they have bright red petal-like leaves (bracts) subtending each flower. The flowers are tubular, slightly curved, up to 20 mm long, light green, with minute hairs.

Distribution: Endemic to S Ecuador. In CNP it is found in various environments. The showiest red parts of the plant are bracts and not flowers.
